Three Birds. Three lives. One reminder to keep creating.

I've always loved to craft. Give me a glue gun, some baubles, glitter, ribbon, a little time, and I'm a happy gal. I've always found joy in making things with my hands.

But the story behind Three Birds Wreath Shop is about more than wreaths.

In 2012, my brother Joel passed away. My Mom, Pat, passed away unexpectedly in 2014, and my Dad, Jim, passed away in 2020. They are my three birds. My three cardinals. Cardinals have long been associated with loved ones who have passed away. There's a beautiful tradition of believing that when a cardinal appears, it's a reminder that someone we love is still close. Whether you believe that literally, or simply love the symbolism, I have always found comfort in it. That's what the three cardinals in my Three Birds Wreath Shop logo represent: Joel, my Mom, and my Dad. They are woven into the heart of this business and into the reason the name means so much to me.

After my Dad died, I took all the angel ornaments that he and my Mom had bought for me throughout my childhood and created a wreath with them. It was such a personal, meaningful project, and a friend encouraged me to keep creating.

So, I did.

What started with that one wreath became a creative outlet during a really difficult time. Creating became a way to work through my grief. It was cathartic. When I was creating, I could focus on something beautiful. I could experiment, make mistakes, take things apart, start over, and create something that didn't exist before.

And I became a little obsessed. My Pinterest board turned into a library of hundreds of wreaths and creative designs. I've taught myself through Pinterest, TikTok, Facebook, and a whole lot of trial and error. I'm still learning, still experimenting, and still finding new things I want to try.

Then life took another turn.

In 2024, I was diagnosed with cancer, and creating took a back seat for a while. After chemotherapy, I made a promise to myself: I was going to embrace the things that bring me joy. Creating is one of those things.

That's when Three Birds Wreath Shop was reborn.

Today, every wreath I make carries a little bit of that journey with it. Three Birds is about creativity, but it's also about finding something good in the midst of hard things, making room for joy, and remembering the people who helped shape us.

I hope the wreaths I create bring a little of that same feeling to your home — something beautiful, something personal, and something that makes you smile every time you walk through the door.
